Kerala cuisine in Christchurch challenges the norm

“There's a new style of Indian cuisine in Christchurch. Called Kerala cuisine, it's totally different to the vast majority of Indian restaurants in town.

Putting a twist on what we've come to expect from curry is Tamarind Restaurant. The pure south Indian eatery opened last Friday at 105c Riccarton Rd.”

Tamarind joins the south Indian taste revolution

"Tamarind on Riccarton Rd  is very different from Southern Spices but equally praiseworthy. This is a restaurant that aims more to introduce Westerners to Keralan cuisine from its location in the midst of Christchurch's restaurant row, with a well-designed booklet menu that explains the background of Keralan food"
